Painting is an art and mostly people use this art to describe their feelings. There are many different kinds of painting. Oil Painting is one of the most famous types of paintings. There are many famous oil painting is this world that have gained fame. It is a common belief that artists ignore making oil paintings but this wrong. There are many famous oil paintings of time. The trend of oil painting started in the Middle East long ago in 6th century. But it remained ignored until 15th century when it became popular and artists started making oil paintings. That happened because artists noticed while making oil paintings that they do not go yellow and the combination of different oils make different pigment consistencies.

Oil paint is not a simple paint. A specific oil mostly linseed oil is used for this purpose. It is then mixed with resins and boiled then varnish is added in it. But it is not a specific rule that only linseed oil can be used for this purpose. Such oils include poppy seed oil, sunflower oil, walnut oil etc. Even a famous oil painting starts with a brush, it is said that art is not in oils but in artists hands. The artist makes use of these oils in such a way that it come out to be a great oil painting. If you ask someone that either he has heard about oil painting or not, he will surely reply that he has heard about some famous oil paintings like Starry night, the card players, titian, Nude. They might not be aware of the artists but they must have seen these pieces of art. And if you have not seen any of these oil paintings, you can surf the internet and can see their scanned versions because if you have to see the original ones you will have to travel a lot.
